As I kid of a British immigrant, we watch a lot of Monty Python. My first exposure to Wuthering Heights was actually from this clip. Have you ever seen it? Do you think the new film will take any inspiration from this classic?

It’s the famous “Semaphore Version of ‘Wuthering Heights’” from Monty Python’s Flying Circus where the tragic Victorian romance is entirely acted out using semaphore flags, a delightfully absurd take that playfully mocks how difficult classic literature can be to adapt straight to film. In the sketch, Heathcliff and Catherine communicate their lovesick dialogue by waving semaphore flags, and the whole scene leans hard into Python’s signature surreal, intellectual humour.
