Check out this clip of the director of Wuthering Heights, Emerald Fennel, discussing some of her directorial choices for the film. What do you think about the how they created the “the soft, light-beige walls of Catherine’s bedroom that have been designed to resemble her skin, marbled veins and all”?

For me, this scene really brings up feelings of unease. Painting the wall in a skin tone that highlights every “imperfection” is such a powerful choice. Most women are sensitive about how our skin looks, and seeing those details like veins and freckles on a grand scale definitely brings our insecurities to the fore. That moment when Catherine looks at the wall and instinctively touches her own skin is a beautiful, raw portrayal of her discomfort.
